The water activities on and around the Lac de Serre-Ponçon are numerous and varied.
As far as rafting is concerned, 3 rivers are part of the legendary routes of the Southern Alps.
The Ubaye and the Guil, which still have a natural flow (perhaps not for much longer) and the Durance, which is more open to all and less technically demanding, will satisfy those looking for an initiation in a reassuring setting.
For the latter, the start is at the foot of the ski resorts of Vars and Risoul as far as the town of Embrun.
The Guil river crosses the Queyras Park upstream from the town of Guillestre in sumptuous gorges surrounded by magnificent peaks. It is a much more sporting descent, the declivity of its course creates exceptional rapids, some of them impassable!
